ILUMEN ATELIER is an independent creative studio
working at the intersection of landscape architecture and visual art.
The studio develops projects ranging from landscape and exterior design to healing gardens, interior green design, visual installations and projection-based artworks.
Creativity and technical expertise converge to shape spaces, images and atmospheres.
Founded in 2015 by Valentina Maffeo.
LANDSCAPE & GARDEN DESIGN
Design of public and private landscapes, gardens and therapeutic environments.
Projects include urban parks, healing gardens, outdoor spaces and the regeneration of post-industrial sites.
VISUAL INSTALLATIONs
Design and production of multimedia installations, projection mapping and immersive visual environments for cultural spaces, exhibitions and events.
Art Direction & Consulting
Creative consulting, art direction and technical coordination for spatial, artistic and multimedia projects, including visual identity, scenographic lighting and graphic development.

FOUNDER / BIO
VALENTINA MAFFEO is a landscape architect and visual artist whose work explores the relationship between nature, light and spatial experience.
Her practice ranges from landscape architecture and garden design to immersive visual environments, including installations, projection mapping and scenographic lighting.
A key line of research focuses on Healing Gardens, therapeutic landscapes designed to support health, balance and regeneration in healthcare settings and urban environments.
From 2022 to 2025 she collaborated with Politecna Europa (Planet Smart City Group) on large-scale public architecture projects including university campuses, hospitals and schools.
She currently collaborates with architectural studios and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to landscape and spatial projects across different scales.
Valentina Maffeo holds a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture (LM3) and has been working as an independent professional since 2015.

Design of a Linear Park System for Spina 1 – Turin
based on the principles of the “Third Landscape” and Urban Land Art.
The project explored the regeneration of post-industrial landscapes through a system of linear parks along Spina 1 in Turin, with a specific focus on the former Materferro industrial site in Piazza Marmolada.
